After almost two decades at my organization, the progress I have made in the last two years is remarkable. I attribute my newfound success in navigating the organization and catalyzing change to the support I have received from Beth. Her coaching helped me to move from a staff position to a role leading our programs as a member of the executive team. This promotion also provided me with a substantial salary increase, another critical aspect of feeling empowered and valued.
Beth consistently helped me to see concrete ways forward in relation to any professional challenge, big or small. She created the space for me to express my frustration, and then to reflect on the sources of my frustration and put them into perspective. Asking perceptive questions, she enabled me to identify effective ways to deal with numerous challenges, including leadership transitions, staffing challenges, and communication issues.
One pivotal step was the 360-degree feedback exercise that Beth conducted, interviewing a range of colleagues and providing me with a cogent picture of their perceptions of my strengths and weaknesses. Those findings gave me a perspective on myself, in my role, in the context of the organization. I was initially inclined to focus on my weaknesses but Beth challenged me also to take on board the feedback about my strengths. I have learned to use these strengths, consciously, to address identified challenges. And with Beth’s support I have also learned to seek and make use of feedback.
Working with Beth as my coach has been of inestimable value.
